Plain language is good style, not “dumbing down.” It is making the message clear and understandable for readers.  Plain language writing reaches more people. There is no correct way to use plain language. Plain language is comprised of simple, clear sentences and is at a reading level no higher than grade 10. This website identifies the principles of plain language, examples of plain language as well as links to other plain language resources.
